Green Bean Salad

A Turkish way of cooking green beans with tomatoes, to eat hot or cold.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Put the oil in a large frying pan and set over a medium-high heat.
  2. When hot, put in the onion and garlic.
  3. Stir and cook for 2-3 mins, or until the onion just begins to soften.
  4. Put in the chopped tomatoes and their liquid.
  5. Stir and cook on medium heat, breaking up the tomatoes further, for 7-8 minutes.
  6. Add the beans, salt and 250ml (8floz) water.
  7. Bring to the boil.
  8. Cover, turn the heat to low and simmer gently for 20 mins, or until the beans are tender.
  9. Uncover, turn the heat up and boil to reduce the sauce.
  10. Let the beans cool for a salad or eat warm.
