Petworth Xmas Market 2014

Added by Kate on 08 December 2014

We had a brilliant, if very cold day, in Petworth on Saturday 6th December when we set up our stall with our home made jams, chutneys and beautiful rural crafts from our Men's Shed project. Petworth Market Square was alive with stalls and rides from 11am until 8pm, with entertainment from local schools, choirs and Petworths own amazing singer Charlotte. The 'live' window displays were fantastic, and the Christmas tree lights, turned on at 6.30 by Lord Egremont were enjoyed by an enormous crowd. Its a brilliant annual community event, put on by the ever tireless Petworth and District Community Association and we are always there whatever the weather! This year we sold lots of our beautiful jams and chutneys, and the Men's Shed sold their gorgeous crafts, snapped up by people for unusual Christmas presents. (The church bird box is my particular favourite.) The sun even shone on us for a while on this crisp and cold winter day, and Christmas has now officially started in Petworth. We spoke to lot of people about what we do, we were joined by some of our volunteers including baby Liam, and had a fantastic day.
