Petworth Community Garden's Growing for All

Added by Kate on 02 October 2013

Unbelievably our Local Food Funded project is coming to an end. Heres what we have achieved...
Since July 2012, we have run weekly, 'Learn and Grow' sessions, teaching organic gardening and wildlife care to our group, harvesting and sharing our abundant crops. We have also been learning to cook our harvest at SuJoCos cookery school and have lots of lovely new recipies and experiences. We have been running weekly sessions on Thursdays, offering more specific theraputic gardening sessions, and hosting visits from community groups and others interested in our work. We have met and helped lots of new community garden groups get set up and started, and connected with other fantasic projects across the area and further afield. We have created lots of new permaculture designs for projects and home gardens, along with giving many hours of funding advice and support to get those all important funds in to make community garden dreams, a reality. We have outreached to local schools and a carehome. Our group helped to create a fantastic Dragon garden for Graffham nursery and infant school. We run a gardening club in Duncton schools wildlife and outdoor learnig garden, which we designed and helped implement. We have supported Rotherlea Care Home to grow food for the residents in a garden we designed. We also have or are supporting Transition Chichester, Bognor CAN, Littlehamptons HomeLink project, Hazlemere's Magic W.A.N.D centre, Lodsworth Community Farm initiative, S.D.R.O and others. We are now in process of developing a new website, which will focus on offering advice to help set up new community garden projects.
